BOOK-CLUB PICKS: What’s so great about wordless picture books? The possibilities!

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

Since wordless picture books have illustrations but no printed story text, kiddos of all ages can let their creativity soar. Based on the images, they can tell or write original masterpieces. Their own stories in their own words! Motivation and engagement arise from experiencing the other side of the story (the author vs. the reader side). These new authors get to:

  • Decide how characters feel and what they’re thinking

  • Weave their own web of events and background stories

  • Have fun while practicing vocabulary, sentence structure, dialogue, story parts, etc.

Sit back and get ready for unexpectedly imaginative storytelling, no matter where your child is on the reading spectrum.
